Opleiding: Training Development-Focused Conversations (English) - Dag
As a manager you want your people to perform well, not just today, but also tomorrow and in the years to come. This requires an ongoing dialogue between you and your employees about current performance, development needs and desires, and the development requirements of the organization. An open conversation that brings both the individual and organizational perspectives to the table. Encouraging development means being clear about what’s needed and possible, while also showing genuine interest in your employees’ goals and motivations.
ApproachBefore the training, you’ll explore what motivates people to keep developing. You’ll complete an intake form with your personal learning goals and practical challenges. While ownership of development lies with the employee, your influence as a leader is significant.
This compact training focuses on two key elements of development-focused conversations: stretching and supporting.
- Stretching means understanding where someone currently stands and what growth is needed to ensure future performance (the organizational perspective).
- Supporting means genuinely engaging with how learning works for each individual and what’s needed to stimulate and facilitate their development.
During this active training day, you’ll receive practical checklists and practice essential techniques. At the end of the day, you’ll create an action plan outlining the next steps to further develop your conversation skills.
