The field of Actuarial Science is constantly evolving in required skills and knowledge due to new techniques, requirements and regulations. Nevertheless, there are some never changing fundamental actuarial techniques, upcoming actuaries need in their toolbox to be optimally equipped for the product and risk structures of the future. Objective of this course is to provide content for this toolbox by offering a thorough basis in the fundamental actuarial techniques within the field of non-life and life. In addition, we also touch upon the applications of these techniques to the (market value) balance sheet of an insurer within the Solvency II (standard formula) framework.

The course will be split into two segments:
1.The first 9 lectures focus on non-life. This part is completed by a separateexamination in September.

2.The remaining 6 lectures address the
actuarial techniques of life insurance andpension products.
