Opleiding: Certified Data Center Environmental Sustainability Specialist - CDESS® (exam incl.) (English) (Virtual)

Algemeen :
The CDESS® course at Vijfhart helps you improve energy efficiency and environmental sustainability of data centres without compromising availability or manageability. You learn why sustainability has become a core requirement in modern data centre operations, what regulations and climate goals are driving change, and how you translate these into practical decisions on the facility and its infrastructure. This is valuable if you’re responsible for reducing energy use, improving reporting, or making sustainability improvements that still support uptime and operational control.
You build a solid understanding of environmental and energy management standards and how they apply to data centres. The course connects international climate treaties to real-world requirements and shows you how to work with sustainable performance metrics in a data centre context. You learn how to set up measurement, monitoring, and reporting of energy usage, and how to use power efficiency indicators across different data centre designs. You also cover best practices for energy savings in the electrical and mechanical (cooling) infrastructure, as well as for ICT equipment and data storage, plus the essentials of water management, waste management, and options for using sustainable energy.
You work with practical examples and improvement scenarios that mirror common challenges in existing and new data centres. You translate standards into concrete actions, choose relevant metrics, and create a simple approach for ongoing monitoring and reporting. You also get practical tips and innovative ideas you can apply quickly so you leave with a clear plan to make sustainability measurable, manageable, and continuous in your own environment.
Certification
After completing the course, you will be prepared for the internationally recognised EPI exam. The certificate is valid for three years.
Exam at the training location
As standard, you will take the exam at the training location on the final course day. The exam is delivered digitally via EXIN Online. You must bring your own laptop with a working browser and internet connection. The trainer will act as the exam supervisor.
Online exam at a later time
If you attend the course online via Microsoft Teams, are unable to be physically present on the final course day, or there is insufficient time to take the exam during the course, you will receive an EXIN Anywhere voucher. This allows you to take the exam online at a time of your choice.
Doel :
After the course you can manage data centre environmental sustainability using international standards and you’re well prepared for the official CDESS® exam. If you pass, you earn the CDESS® certification.
